AIDungeon2 is a first of its kind AI generated text adventure. Using a 1.5B parameter machine learning model called GPT-2 AIDungeon2 generates the story and results of your actions as you play in this virtual world.
Unlike virtually every other game in existence, you are not limited by the imagination of the developer in what you can do. Any thing you can express in language can be your action and the AI dungeon master will decide how the world responds to your actions.

DeleteThe hardware requirements to play offline are pretty big, you would need to have a GPU with 12 GB of memory and install CUDA otherwise it would be super slow.

DeleteI got GTX Titans, 128 gigs of system RAM, and an i7-6950X, here. I think my rig could probably run the neural network pretty well. I heard from some guy who was into programming that AMD's Threadrippers are actually exceeding the performance of GPGPU stuff on high-end nVidia video cards. Is that true? Isn't GPGPU still, like, really fast for this sort of thing? Anyway, I got kinda nervous when I saw the local Jupyter server stuff has direct access to the file system. Is it safe? It's not gonna accidentally blank my drive, is it?

Okay, here's the thing: this AI requires a GPU with at least 12GB of VRAM, which even a RTX 2080ti doesn't have. You definitely can't run it on a chromebook, so it doesn't really matter whether or not the install worked.

Okay, for real, why did the guy who made this think it was okay to take other people's stories and redistribute the full text of them on GitHub?

DeleteI've taken those stories down, but to be fair they were in a format that no one would ever try to read as a story.
DeleteAppreciate it. You do have to realize you sent a small community of writers who had absolutely no idea their stories were being used for any of this into a panic this morning; I've been fielding messages about this stuff since 4am without knowing any more than anybody else did about what stories were used or how. That file with the stories was the only major thing brought up by the guy who understands code stuff so I hope all is cool now. The actual game looks fun and I'm looking forward to checking it out when it's back up.

DeleteYou should upload the game somewhere else, it's too good to be down like this. I wanted to put funee things so the game spits out funnier things at me.
DeleteIts says that AI dungeon 2 is down because the downloads are to expensive or something. Is the game temporarily shut down? I would still like it to be available on a browser of some sort.

ReplyDeleteMay I suggest a hosting a proper discussion forum somewhere? Where people can upload copies of funny adventures they've gone on, discuss the state of the game, and other issues? (rather than have everything just smashed into this comment section).

ReplyDeleteUse the "play ai dungeon 2" link, to play the game in a browser inside a iPython Notebook hosted in the cloud. The game will also download the files from the torrent and then let you play.
DeleteDownloading and seeding the torrent only serves a purpose of providing the bandwidth, so that everyone could download the game faster. You need to use the Google Colab platform in order to play it. Aka, read the instructions.

ReplyDeleteYou are Rhybo, a rogue living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a long steel
dagger and a length of rope. You walk down the city street looking for somehwere
to steal from. You look around and see nothing that interests you. You notice
a man walking towards you. He is dressed in fine clothing and carries a small
sword on his hip

You quickly slip into an alcove behind a trash pile and wait for your prey. The
thief approaches you and you take out your knife.
"I'm sorry sir, but I can't help you".

"I mean no harm sir, I just don't like people stealing things from me".
"Well why do you rob stores then?"

"Because they're always taking my stuff! They never give it back when I buy something!"
The thief looks at you as if he's about to say something else, but decides against
it. He turns around and walks away. You sigh and continue on your way

You start to go through a cartwheel. It doesn't work though. You try again and
this time manage to get it going. Unfortunately you fall off and land hard on
the ground. You groan in pain and look up at the sky
> let out a gigantic fart
You let out a massive **** that is heard throughout the city. Everyone is surprised
by how loud it was. Some even walk outside their houses to see if anyone was
home. You feel good for a moment and then you realize that you've been holding
it in all day

You find some of your underwear and notice that there is blood on them. You also
notice that one of them has a bloody hole in it. You decide to leave the area
immediately
